For my promotional television advertisement, I created an animation which consisted of 2D Digital frame by frame animation alongside a live action background and voice over. I did this since I thought the juxtaposition between the live action background and animation would work well together and would be complimented by the voice over, creating a powerful advert that captures viewers; attention.

After creating and screening my advert, I created questionnaires, which would help me gain an understanding of what viewers of my advert thought of my production, the viewers were of the target demographic my advert would be aimed for (students/prospective students 16-18) and their feedback would help me determine how successful my advert would be, if it were aired on television. I also made notes on viewers’ thoughts and opinions on my production during the screening and will be using all of these results through out this report.

The feedback shows that 100% of questionnaire participants found the message to my advert clear. This shows that the advert was easy to understand for viewers.

The feedback also shows that approximately 65% of questionnaire participants found that the animation utilised, enhanced the advert’s message, as they circled yes to the question Do you think the animation enhances the advert’s message? a few people said after the screening “the advert’s message would be easily understood, without the animation” and this shows that they felt as though the animation did not make to much of a difference to the narrative and message however many viewers thought the animation did definitely enhance the advert’s message and this is because the juxtaposition between the animation and live action background captivates the viewers’ attention and then viewers are able to consume the message easily.

80% of participants thought that the combination of animation and live action backgrounds worked well together. Many viewers said after the screening “It made the character, background and audio stand out in their own ways”. This shows that the advert was aesthetically appealing to audiences and that the look was successful however, a few people felt as thought there was quite a lot to consume in terms of visuals and they thought it “over complicated the advert”.

Feedback also shows that 100% of questionnaire participants thought that my advert was fit for purpose. This shows that the advert, alongside all of its themes and animation worked well to create a production that was clearly a promotional advert for THC

When asked the question on a scale of 1-10 (1 being very little and 10 being very engaging) how engaging was the advert? The majority of participants circled 8 and 9. This shows that the majority of viewers found the advert, its animation and audio quite engaging. It also shows that it kept the viewers’ attention and they found it interesting.

Overall I believe viewers found my advert to be quite engaging as they thought my animation was quite unique since it was utilised to animate the characters as opposed to the entire production. Many viewers thought my voice over stood out as it was a method that had not been utilised by any other student and that it made the advert and dialogue sound clear. Many viewers’ thought the live action background worked well with the rest of the elements and the message was easy to understand. Overall all of these elements made the advert quite powerful and engaging.
