When it came to creating my animated advert for THC, my first step was developing ideas of different styles of animation I could incorporate into my advert. I did this by brain storming and rotoscoping. I also created a few different sketches of ideas that I had for the advert's aesthetic.
-Sketch No.1 for production, Live action background and frame by frame animated character
I decided that I wanted to make my advert stand out to audiences by creating a juxtaposition by using both 2D Frame by Frame animation and live action. I also decided I would use some animated text.
After doing this I then reviewed my animation and planned what scenes I would rerecord so I could then insert animation into them.
The next step I took was going out and re recording the scenes that had my actor in them, without the actor in them this time. This would be so I could then add the animation of my character into the background and the scene would look very natural.
After re recording my footage, the next step I took was animating. I opened my scene into photoshop, to get a good understanding and view of the scenes' dimensions, I did this so I could then get a good idea of the size I would then like to draw m character in.
I then added a new blank video layer to my animation and drew the first part of my character on to the layer. I decided to draw each posable part (i.e. Legs and Shoes) to the character on a separate layer so when I wanted to move each part to the character I could move each part separately. This meant I could create a detailed look and motion to the animation. Once I had pre pared a scene I added a green screen layer to the back of the scene and exported it as a Jpeg Image.
This process was repeated for each scene with in my advert.
After creating each frame of animation I sequenced each frame of my animation chronologically in the video editing software Final Cut Pro X, I then keyed out the green screen and inserted the footage I had re recorded into it.

This process was repeated for each scene with in my advert.
I then added my animated text into the advert, I also edited scenes by making certain clips longer and shorter, I also added some key frames, I edited the voice over to my advert so that t would synchronise with the scenes that were in the advert. I also added some music to the advert that made it stand out as an advert.
Overall there were quite a few steps taken to create my advert however, I am very satisfied with the outcome of my advert I think it utilises animation in a creative way that stands out to viewers and is overall a unique advert.
