Confused Student

In this lesson we got into groups of 3 and planned out the story, themes and resources we were going to use in a cut out animation.

We decided that we were going to incorporate the story of a student deciding between two different courses. We chose this narrative because it would be interesting and intriguing to viewers.

We chose to use a variety of different sheets with different prints, colours and patterns from magazines and newspapers to cut from, we did this because we wanted to display a sense of confusion in our animation between the sheets. We wanted a big variety of cut outs so they all looked different and viewers would then associate the uniqueness of the cut out pieces to the unique ness of the college and its courses.

Our team cutting out shapes from magazines and newspapers-

We also chose to use iMotion as the software to capture our frames as it is the perfect software for the style of animation.

We chose to try and stay away from using facial expressions as they would have removed any form of abstractness associated with the animation.

Overall once our confused student animation was finally rendered, it looked quite abstract and unique, it sent a message revolving around confusion over picking a course here on the college and was aesthetically appealing.
